A Sneaky Blind Date

During the college break in the spring of 1970, my roommate and her boyfriend (now husband) were making plans to go to Disneyland. I told her to find me a date, and I would go with them. There was a young man that attended their small church who had just gotten out of the Army, so they asked him if he would like to go with them…and accompany her roommate. He said, “Sure, why not!” Thus, the blind date was arranged!

The four of us got to the gate about 9 a.m. and our “friends” turned and said, “See you later” and left us at the gate. We spent the next 8 hours or so going from one ride to another, having a great time!

This turned into a good friendship that lead to a wedding in September of that same year…and my husband and I celebrated our 42nd anniversary last September 19th. Disneyland has always held a special place in our hearts!
